Almaty, Kazakhstan, April 26, 2004 - Local side Rahat Almaty won the 2004 Asian Women's Club Volleyball Championships which took place in Kazakhstan. The Kazakh team's success came thanks to a final round-robin victory over their compatriots Astana Kanaty.
August 1st from China and Chung Shan from Chinese Taipei finished the competition in second and third place respectively following the five-day, round robin tournament, which drew six club teams from five regions.
The top three teams all finished with a record of four wins and one loss but Rahat Almaty placed first due to their better ratio of sets won.
August 1st defeated their main rivals and title contenders Rahat Almaty 3-1 on Saturday, but they lost unexpectedly to Chung Shan 2-3 on the final day of the competition a result that cost them the title.
