Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, April 10, 2004 - The drawing of lots for the 12th Asian Junior Men's and Women's Volleyball Championships, to be held in Qatar and Sri Lanka in September 2004, took place at the recent Asian Volleyball Confederation's Board of Administration meeting.

A total of 19 teams will take part in the Men's Junior Championship from September 3-10 in Doha, Qatar, with the participating teams being pooled into four groups.

In the Women's Junior Championships, 11 teams are divided into two groups with the competition running from September 19 to 26 in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The results of drawing of lots for the two events are as follows:

Men:

Group A: Qatar, Chinese Taipei, Saudi Arabia, Australia

Group B: Iran, Bahrain, UAE, Kazakhstan, Thailand

Group C: India, Pakistan, Jordan, Indonesia, Japan

Group D: China, Korea, Kuwait, Yemen, Sri Lanka

Qatar, Iran, India and China will not play the preliminary round and will enter the quarter-finals directly.

Women

Group A: Sri Lanka, Chinese Taipei, Maldives, Korea, Australia

Group B: China, Thailand, India, Kazakhstan, Japan, Indonesia.
