Luxembourg, 23 April 2003 - The German Volleyball Federation has won the bid for organizing the Men's Qualification Tournament for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens while the Azerbaidjan Volleyball Federation will organize the Women's Qualification Tournament in Baku. Both tournaments will be held Jan 5-10, 2004. The cities of Leipzig/Riesa were officially designated by the European Volleyball Confederation and the German Federation as host cities for the men's event, which will bring together eight European teams. The winner qualifies for Athens 2004. The CEV has selected the city of Baku to host the women's event, which can provide a new hall with seating capacity of 13,000. The organization of the Olympic Qualification Tournament will be a landmark event for the Azerbaijan Federation. Prior to these tournaments, pre-qualification tournaments will take place in November 2003.
