CARACAS, Venezuela, January 10, 2004 - Argentina kept their unbeaten record at the South American Men Olympic Qualification tournament in Venezuela after beating a young Peruvian team in straight sets 25-13, 25-15, 25-18 in 54 minutes on Saturday.
Now Argentina must wait for a decisive match against Venezuela on Sunday that will determine the team that will join Brazil at the Olympic Games in Athens.
Argentine coach Armoa started with his six stars Milinkovic, Elgueta, Porporatto, Ferraro, Spajic and Giani in the first set, but then allowed the rest of the squad to participate (Pablo Meana (libero), Gabriel Arroyo, Jerónimo Bidegain, Camilo Soto, Santiago Darraidou, Leonardo Patti)
Peru came to Caracas to learn and they did well in the third set, pushing the solid Argentine block to record 18 points.
On Sunday Peru will look for its first win in the tournament when they play Chile.
