Africa Men - Egypt and Tunisia to play off for Olympics

Tunis, Tunisia, January 9, 2004 - The two African sides who participated in the 2003 World Cup and two of the biggest Volleyball schools in Africa Tunisia and Egypt will play off for a ticket to Athens 2004 in the final of the African Men's Olympic Qualification tournament on Saturday in the Tunisian capital of Tunis after both sides recorded their second successive straight set victories on Friday.

Tunisia beat South Africa 25-19, 25-18, 25-10 while Egypt overcame Algeria 25-22, 29-27, 25-15 to leave the two African heavyweights as the only two unbeaten teams in this four-team competition.

Tunisia were led to a comfortable victory by the experienced Noureddine Hfeiehh and the young star Gara Mourad while in one of the best matches of the tournament Egypt's emerging players Ahmed Salah and Abdalla Abdelsalam, both 19, lifted them to a surprisingly easy win over Algeria. Ahmed Salah did well with his spikes from position 2, while Abdalla collected five aces with his strong serves.
