AFRICA OLYMPIC QUALIFICATION MEN AND WOMEN - DRAWING OF LOTS

Cairo, Egypt, December 14, 2003 - The drawing of lots of the African Olympic qualification tournaments men and women was held on the final day of CAVB board of Administration meeting and congress here in Cairo, Egypt. Five countries will participate in the Menís competition which will be held in Tunisia 3-10 January 2004; Tunisia, the African champions, Egypt the last All Africa Games Gold medalist, Algeria African Nations semifinalist, Nigeria the silver medalist in All Africa Games and the new emerging South Africa. The most favorite Tunisia and Egypt will meet in the final day of the competition to determine one team which will qualify to the finals in Athens 2004.

The womenís qualification Tournament will be held in Nairobi, Kenya 7-10 January 2004 with four participating teams; Nigeria the last All Africa Games gold medalists, Egypt the Champions of the last African Nationsí Championship, Kenya the vice champions of the last African Nations and the new emerging Seychelles. Egypt will meet Nigeria in the opening day where Egypt will try to take the revenge from their opponent after they lost the final of the last All Africa Games in Abuja, Nigeria last October.
