The South Americans went out went out hard and strong to hit the USA with any missile at their disposal in a match that was hopelessly one-sided. Brazil inflicted the USA’s most punishing defeat in the first set, allowing them only 15 points. Brazilian coach Jose Guimaraes was ecstatic “I am very pleased to have a ticket to Athens. Our dream came true and my duty accomplished. Today the Brazilian team played very well and consistently. The whole team got together and we performed well in serve-reception so that we can attack with variety,” he said. In other early action Poland improved their win-loss ratio to 4-6 when they inflicted a defeat on Korea, who slipped to 3-7. The USA never got into the match and Brazil went from strength to strength as they surged to their ninth victory in this 11-match series that rewards the top three placed teams with Olympic tickets.
