French actor and former international volleyball player Michel Constantin died on Friday Aug. 20 at Draguignan Hospital in the south of France. He was 79. Michel Constantin made 80 appearances between 1955-1958 as captain of the
French national team. He then worked as a volleyball writer for the French sports daily L’Equipe before becoming a successful actor in about 40 films along with stars such as Alain Delon, Lino Ventura, Mireille Darc and others. He was often cast in the role of villian or played the part of a gangster. Constantin was named in France’s All Stars team of the 20th Century.
