Argentina returns with new coach

August 29, 2003 - Fabian Armoa has been named as the new coach of the Argentinean national men's team for the South American Men's Continental Championship, which starts in Brazil on September 2 in Rio de Janeiro.

The coach of the Vélez Sarsfield club in the Metropolitan Liga will be accompanied by Marcelo Silva, technician of the Boca Juniors club and Rafael Lozano, DT of Universitario de La Plata club.

Argentina will travel to Brazil on Monday for the crucial tournament, which marks the Argentinian return to international competitions after the suspension imposed by the FIVB, where the hosts, Argentina, Venezuela, Chile and Paraguay will play off for two qualification spots to the 2003 World Cup in Japan.

Already there are 10 players confirmed for the team including Guillermo Garcia and Enrique Laneri, of the Boca Juniors club while the presence of Leonardo Patti and Alexander Spajic, two regular national players is also expected.
