U21 World Championship: Hosts warm up with Canadian win

Tehran, Iran, August 20, 2003 - As teams participating in the 2003 Men's Under 21 World Championship are in the process of arriving in Tehran to compete in the championship, which starts on Saturday, the Iran national team completed a straight sets (26-24, 25-21, 25-22) win over Canada in a friendly match on Tuesday.

Iran has been in camp in Tehran building up to the start of the World Championship and their hard work paid off with an impressive display in the main hall which will host the competition in Azadi Sports Centre.

Iran will play in Group A at the championship with Egypt, which will arrive on Wednesday, Venezuela and South Korea, while Canada will be in Group C with Tunisia, who also finished their preparation schedule with friendly matches in Tehran, Poland, who finished their preparation programme with three friendly matches in Egypt, which the hosts won 2-1, and one of the favorites for the title, Brazil.

China will be the last team to reach Iran on Thursday night.
