Nairobi-Kenya, August 15 - Eight African women teams will compete for a place in the World Cup in Japan next November through the 14th African Nations Championship in Nairobi-Kenya, August 16-23
The competition will be held in Kasarani Hall. The drawing of lots on Friday put hosts Kenya and Egypt in the same Group A with Tunisia and R.D. Congo. Egypt and Kenya represented Africa in the 2002 World Championship in Germany 2002. Kenya has won more championships that and other country in the history of this championship.
Group B is headed by Seychelles the defending Champions with Senegal, Cameroon and Nigeria.
Kenya goes to the championship as favorites and boasting the most experienced players on the continent. Egypt led by Africa's best player over the past decade Tahany Tosson, has won two championships in the last eight years.
GROUP A: Kenya, RD Congo, Tunisia, Egypt.
GROUP B: Seychelles, Senegal, Cameroon, Algeria.
August 16: Egypt vs.Tunisia, RD Congo vs. Kenya, Senegal vs. Algeria, Cameroon vs. Seychelles.
August 17: Tunisia vs. RD Congo, Algeria vs. Seychelles, Senegal vs. Cameroon, Kenya vs. Egypt.
August 18: Cameroon vs. Algeria, Seychelles vs. Senegal, Egypt vs. RD Congo, Tunisia vs. Kenya.
August 19: Rest Day
August 20: 4th Group A vs. 4th Group B; 3rd Group A vs. 3rd Group B
Semifinal: 1st Group A vs. 2nd Group B; 1st Group B vs.2nd Group A
August 21: Rest Day
August 22: Third place match.
August 23: Final.
