June 29, 2003 - COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. Ė The United States will be bringing its top team to the XIV Pan American Games menís volleyball competition in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, beginning Sunday, Aug. 3.
The menís roster includes: Brook Billings; Scott Bunker; Gabe Gardner; Dave McKienzie; Adam Naeve; Jim Polster; Reid Priddy; Riley Salmon; Chris Seiffert; Erik Sullivan; Donald Suxho; and Mac Wilson.
The men (7-1), who have won seven straight matches, will be playing in their first major tournament of the season after opening the year with a five-match domestic tour against Korea and a three-match tour in Canada.
Team USA will be guided by Hall of Fame head coach Doug Beal. He will be assisted by Hugh McCutcheon and Rob Browning.
The United States, which has captured four gold medals (1955, 1959, 1967, 1987) and three silver medals (1963, 1971, 1995) at this competition, will be a member of Pool B along with Barbados, the Dominican Republic and Venezuela. Pool A consists of Brazil, Canada, Cuba and Puerto Rico. The menís volleyball tournament will run from Sunday, Aug. 3 until Friday, Aug. 15 at the Volleyball Pavilion in the Olympic Center Juan Pablo Duarte.
