July 19, 2003 - China has announced their final line-up which will be responsible for trying to improve on their second placing at last year's World Grand Prix at the 2003 edition of the women's premier annual tournament in Italy starting on Monday.
Coach Chen Zhonghe has made three changes with the most unexpected absence being Zhang Jing, a 190cm high and 23-year-old wing spiker, who has been apart of China's Grand Prix and World Championship team for the last two years. She has been replaced by Zhang Yuehong, a veteran wing spiker who left the team after taking part in last year's World Championship. The other new players are middle block Chen Jing and libro Zhang Na, who participated in the 2001 Grand Prix.
But the starting line-up is unlikely to suffer any changes and is expected to remain the same as to the one which participated in the Montreux Masters Volleyball Tournament earlier this year. That includes setter Feng Kun, wing spikers Yang hoa and Chu Jinling, middle blocks Liu Yanan and Zhao Ruirui, opposite Zhou Suhong.
The full Chinese team, which left Beijing for Italy on Saturday, is: Feng Kun, Zhao Ruirui, Yang Hao, Zhou Suhong, Liu Yanan, Chu Jinling, Zhang Na, Zhang Yuehong, Wang Lina, Li Shan, Chen Jing and Song Lina.
A total of 16 teams are to compete in the Grand Prix and China is grouped together with Russia, Brazil, Korea, Canada and Thailand for the preliminary round.
