South American Beach Volleyball Tour: Medellin hosts penultimate stop

Medellin will host the penultimate stop on the South American Beach Volleyball Tour
Lausanne, Switzerland, May 30, 2014 – The 2013-14 South American Beach Volleyball season is coming to an end and the eighth stop will be in Colombia at Medellin, host of the 2010 South American Games.

Known as the city of eternal spring and located 1,479 metres above sea level with a comfortable average temperature of 23 C, Medellín will play host to a colourful party that brings the best exponents of beach volleyball on the continent to the city from May 30 to June 1.

In the competition organized by the CSV, the Colombian Federation of Volleyball and Volleyball League Antioqueña, there will be pairs from Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela, as well as from the home country.

Brazil lead the rankings in both genders but are tied with Chile on 1,260 points in the men’s section, followed by Argentina with 1,100. On the women’s side, Brazil have 1,320 points, followed again by Argentina with 1,280, with Uruguay and Colombia tied on 860 points in third place.

“We are very happy to welcome our colleagues from different countries,” said Claudia Galindo, who with her sister, Andrea, will lead the Colombian delegation at the event. “As hosts, it’s a good opportunity to have the support of the fans, to make a good competition and reaffirm our position in the South American ranking.”
