Local players Celeinis Monasteries and Adriana Bernal, Rolando Hernández and José Gómez will be taking part in the event

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, April 25, 2014 – Vargas, a city at the heart of Venezuela’s tourism industry, boasts a large number of beaches and historic sites. From April 25 to 27, Vargas will be the place where 24 young beach volleyball players will compete for a chance to take part in the Youth Olympic Games this year.

Pairs from Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay and Venezuela are hoping to earn their place in the Youth Olympic Games scheduled to take place in Nanjing from 17 to 28 August. There are six vacancies, per gender, available to the South American continent with six qualification tournaments organised on the continent in the lead up to Nanjing.

"We are proud to host this competition in Venezuela,” said Judith Rodriguez, President of the Volleyball Federation of Venezuela. "We welcome all the participating countries and urge all Venezuelan people to come to the beach from April 25 to 27 to witness high volleyball performances in the Vargas state."
