Argentina and Chile take gold in Tucuman stop of South American Beach Tour

Tucuman, Argentina, April 14, 2014 - Argentina's women and Chile's men took gold at the 7th stop of the South American Beach Volleyball Tour held in the city of San Miguel de Tucuman.

It was an outstanding championship that finished with overcrowded tribunes and three hours of television live broadcasting by TyC Sports from the Hilton Garden Inn Beach Volleyball Park.

Ana Gallay/Georgina Klug (Argentina 1) and Marco Grimalt/Esteban Grimalt (Chile) topped the medal podiums in the women’s and men’s competition, which   included all kinds of entertainment added to the volleyball matches.

Gallay-Klug won their fourth title of the 2014 season 2014 after beating the Colombian sisters Andrea-Claudia Galindo 2-0 (21-11, 21-17). The Argentine girls’ powerful play helped them defeat the Colombian sisters as they played their first final match of the season.

The bronze medal at the women's tournament was won by Brazil with Fares-Schmidt beating Argentina’s Puntin/Zonta 2-0 (21-19, 21-16).

At the men's competition, Chilean cousins Marco-Esteban Grimalt defeated in a great final match Argentina, Pablo Bianchi/Julian Azaad 2-0 (21-10, 21-17). Marco's outstanding performance next to the net and Esteban's good digging and spiking made the difference in this final match.

The Bronze Medal was for Brazil with two teams of the same country facing each other. Gomes/Ley overcame Santos/Bastos 2-0 (21-15, 21-15) to step onto the podium.

The Tucuman ‘Beach Fest’ party also had live music shows at the end of the competition featuring Miranda, Los Autenticos Decadentes which saw band Gaston "Frances" playing with an Argentina Beach Volleyball Team jersey.
