(Junior World Championships Athlete’s registration and WCH/U-21)
along with a copy of their passport will be considered
eligible to take part in the above event.

Entry
regulations |
|
Teams wishing to
take part in this event must contact their respective
National Federations to register. National
Federations are then required to send their entry forms to
the FIVB before the deadline, which is 1 month before
the start of the event. Meanwhile, the National Federation
hosting the event will communicate to all parties concerned
the definitive list of eligible participating teams in the
main draw and in the qualification tournament, along with
the final copy of the Event’s Regulations.

Qualification criteria |

One team per country through nomination of the National
Federation
-
Host country can enter a maximum of 2 teams
-
4 wild cards for each gender event will be granted by the
FIVB
20 teams will be selected to play in the main draw
as follows: (Note: these 20 teams
will already include the 4 wild cards).
1-
The 2002 WCH U-21 event’s ranking up to 6 top ranked
teams
2- 2 host country teams
3-
Priority to be given to
the NF’s promoting 2003 FIVB-Swatch World Tour events, the
countries with players
featured in the FIVB World
Ranking as well as NF’s promoting continental events and grass
roots activities.
4- Finally,
each continent will be
guaranteed one team, if not already qualified through points
1, 2 and 3.
The remaining 4 spots (in order to complete the 24 team
main draw roster) will be taken
from the top 4 teams from the
qualification tournament.
Furthermore, please note that a maximum of 16 teams will
be allowed in the qualification tournament. The
qualification tournament will consist of those countries
wishing to participate and who did not make into the main
draw through the above steps. A second country team
may not enter in the qualification tournament.
A second team however may be used as a reserve team, ready
to replace team #1 in case of injury, etc., or as a wild
card candidate.
Reminder: all
team’s entry forms
(inquire National Federation) and
a photocopy of a valid passport or ID must be sent to the
FIVB via post no later than Monday, July 7, 2003
through their respective National Federation.
The
National Federation hosting the event will communicate by
Monday, July 14, 2003 the participating lists (qualification
& main draw) to all National Federations concerned.

Rewarding |
|
The winning men and women’s teams of the FIVB Beach
Volleyball World Championships U-21, presented by Swatch
will have the right to take part in the main draw of one
FIVB-Swatch World Tour event scheduled after July 11, 2004.
This above-mentioned event will be determined in accordance
with the FIVB, the promoter and the teams concerned. The
FIVB will then grant a wild card to these winning teams for
the choosen FIVB-Swatch World Tour event.
The promoter of the FIVB Beach Volleyball U-21 World
Championships, presented by Swatch will bear the
international travel costs for the 2 winning teams.
Furthermore, teams ranked in the first three places will receive
trophies and medals. Each of the participating athletes will
receive a diploma for their participation. Please take note
that this event will not attribute any prize money.

Board
and Lodging |
|
The Promoter will provide all teams taking part in the main
draw with hotel accommodations (double rooms) and meals from
the evening of Wednesday, August 6 to breakfast on Monday
morning, August 11, 2003. The 8 teams who will not advance
from the preliminary phase to the final phase will be
required to checkout on Saturday morning, August 9, 2003.
The promoter will not cover any board and lodging expenses
for the qualification competition teams, coaches, athletes’
parents or other people accompanying the athletes.
Note: all Athletes
are responsible for any and all extra expenses at the hotel
such as mini-bar, phone calls, laundry, etc. These expenses
must be paid at checkout time.

Transportation |
|
All Athletes (or their respective NFs) are responsible to
bear the expenses of their own international and domestic
airfare to and from the event and for any airport taxes or
visa expenses. Athletes are requested to apply early for
their entry visas, whenever needed. |

|
All teams are required to communicate to the promoter their
respective travel itinerary through the appropriate form
(through National Federation) by no
later than Monday, July 21, 2003.

All local transportation
will be ensured to / from the closest international
airport as well as to / from the hotel of the participating
main draw teams and all officials.
Please
note that if the hotel is within walking distance, then
there will be no need for further local transportation.
However, if the hotel is not within walking distance,
shuttle buses will be provided to
insure efficient connections
between the venue and the hotel
every day.
