His former partner
Emanuel says he has a "winner personality"
and doesn't like to lose. "I think none of the
players like to lose, the difference to me maybe is
that I express my feelings," says Loiola. He is
one of the most outgoing personalities on the
international circuit and is a regular Center Court
attraction, answering the spectators´ demands not
only for sporting excellence but also a good show.
"I
don't hide myself; I am what I am and I am very
proud of it," says Loiola. He also sees
Beach Volleyball not only as top-level sport,
but also as entertainment and himself as an
entertainer. "If I stop being like that
it's time to stop playing," he adds.
Although he is highly competitive, Loiola still
claims fun is the key element of the game.
"I am out there to do something I
like."
Loiola is married and has three daughters with
his American wife. The youngest one, Priscilla,
was born when he was on his way to pick up yet
another gold medal, this time at the Canadian
Open in Montreal. "After one of my matches
an official came to me to tell me that my
daughter was born," he said. After the
final he left to return to Los Angeles to spend
four hours with his newborn daughter, before
leaving for the next tournament in Marseilles,
France.
In his spare
time Loiola loves to go to the beach with his
family and spend some time riding his horses on
his Brazilian ranch. Asked if he wants his three
children to become Beach Volleyballers like him,
he says, "For sure I will not push them,
but it would be nice."
