Jorre says he loves the atmosphere of
Beach Volleyball. "It´s an enormous
feeling to win a match or a tournament in front of
thousands of people. And the fact that we are only two
players makes it even better," he says. The
34-year-old Norwegian, who also plays indoor
volleyball and golf, was a late starter at BVB,
beginning only when he was 21. He joined forces with
Vegard after he turned professional in the 1995-96
season. The two "Vikings" are prominent
figures on the Tour, finishing sixth in the season´s
rankings last year.
Jorre has learned to overcome injury and now wants to
move into top gear to move forward to his real goal in
his sporting career - to start heading for the podium
at the 2004 Olympics in Athens. "Winning and
success is what we live for in our sport. This is what
we practice for every day," he told FIVB.
"When you achieve success in your sporting life,
it will help you in your personal and business life as
well."
Like many of the
World Tour players, Jorre went to Tenerife to
prepare for the 2002 season and practise both
with Norwegian and foreign teams. He tries
to balance his professional sporting career with
other interests and Jorre says he plans to go
into business after he stops playing.
"After travelling and getting in touch with
a lot of different people through the years, our
possibilities are huge!"
But
meanwhile he and Vegard still have things to
achieve on the court, including Jorre´s Olympic
dream for 2004. "I am very happy that I
chose this as my sport. In my country BVB was a
small sport. My choice was from my heart. Beach
Volleyball is a lifestyle, something that makes
you enjoy living!
