The Venue
The Olympic Beach Volleyball Centre will seat 10,000 in the warm and sandy environment of South Attica, at the Faliro Coastal Zone. A test event was held at the venue in August 2003.

· There are five countries with four teams each in the Athens 2004 Olympic Games Beach Volleyball competition, including two men’s and two women’s team. The countries with two teams per gender are Australia, Brazil, Germany, Norway and the United States.
· A total of 24 countries are competing in the Olympic Beach Volleyball competition, including 24 men’s teams from 17 countries (Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Cuba, France, Germany, Greece, Norway, Portugal, Puerto Rico, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United States). and 24 women’s teams from 17 countries (Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Cuba, the Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, South Africa, Switzerland and the United States).
· Brazil and the United States have six teams each in the Athens 2004 Olympic Games Indoor and Beach Volleyball competition, including one indoor men’s and one indoor women’s teams.
