Milan, Italy, September 2nd, 2007 - It is the first success for Denmark's men in an international tournament, the one of Bo Soderberg and Anders Lund Hoyer at the MILAN FIVB CHALLENGER 2007.
At the Parco Sempione the danish seed no. 1 conquered the audience with their simpathy and fairness. At the exciting final they starded loosing the first set but with strong teamwork they managed to win with 2-1 (13-21, 21-18, 15-13) against the brasilian Thiago-Ricardo. The hosting Italians are third, thanks to Giorgio Domenghini (Italian Champion 2007) and Andrea Tomatis (Italian Champion 2006), who at the final for the 3rd and 4th place won against the team from the Czech Repubblic Biza-Tichy with 2-0 (21-13, 21-17).
SODERBERG-HOYER (DEN): "We are really very happy! We arrived as seed 1, so we were pointing at the victory, but you can never know. We lost the first match against Thiago and Ricardo, but we learnt from our mistakes and managed to win the second, and most important match!"
THIAGO (BRA): "This is our best result in an international tournament, and we are satisfied. We could have made it but we committed to many mistakes. Unfortunately I had some problems with my injured leg. Compliments to our adversaries, they played really very well."
DOMENGHINI (ITA): "Here in Milan, it was the first time that I played together with Tomatis. Conquering the podium was already a great success for us."
