| France & Netherlands Reach Le Lavandou Semi-finals |

Le Lavandou, France, August 29, 2004 - After a surprising fifth-place finish in the SWATCH-FIVB World Tour event in Austria last month, the Netherlands team of Jochem De Gruijter and Gijs Ronnes have advanced to the "four four" of the "International de France" here Sunday along with the French tandem of Adrian Caravano and Guilherm Deulofeu.
Seeded second in the 24-team FIVB Satellite event, De Gruijter and Ronnes advanced to the semi-finals with a 24-22 and 21-18 win over 14th-seeded Gregoire Capitaine and Quentin Marion of France in 38 minutes. The Netherlands pair will played the winner of the match between top-seeded Dmitri Barsouk and Denis Tenenbaum of Russia and sixth-seeded Fabio Galli and Andrea Raffaelli of Italy.
Caravano and Deulofeu upset Barsouk and Tenenbaum 21-19 and 25-23 to earn their "final four" berth where they will played the winner of the match between Capitaine and Marion and eighth-seeded Philip Gabathuler and Jan Schnider of Switzerland. France's top team in the competition of Kevin Ces and Yannick Salvetti had to forfeit both of their matches due to injuries. |
