TOP 10 REASONS
Larnaka Tourism Board outlines
the Top Ten Reasons that make Larnaka a unique tourist
destination:
1. Larnaka is Cyprus's
entrance point. The country's main international airport, the
largest marina in Cyprus and a Port are all located in Larnaka.
2. Larnaka has a long
and rich history. It is one of the oldest regions in Europe with
10.000 years of contrasting civilisations and such evidence is
scattered all across the area.
3. Larnaka is an all
year round destination since the hotels of the region remain
open throughout the year and cultural events are continuously
organised.
4. Larnaka is a diverse region: eastern vs
western culture, new vs old, quiet vs cosmopolitan, traditional
vs modern.
5. Larnaka is compact: there are hundreds
of things to see and do, all within walking distance.
6.
Larnaka has kept its "soul" and its character and has not
succumbed to mass tourism.
7. Larnaka has long
clean beaches - most awarded with the EU blue flag - with very
safe, shallow and warm waters. Its stunning sea is a paradise
for all sort of fascinating watersports.
8. Larnaka's picturesque
villages are number one in agrotouristic development and offer
the chance to experience genuine Cypriot hospitality and
culture. The traditional lace of the village of Lefkara has
recently been included in the UNESCO world list for intangible
heritage.
9. In Larnaka's seas lies the famous
Zenobia Wreck which is considered to be the best wreck dive site
in the Mediterranean and amongst the top ten in the world.
10. Larnaka is the ideal place to stay and
discover the rest of the island - based in Larnaka, one can see
the whole of Cyprus in less kilometers than staying anywhere
else.
