World Tour Countdown -6: Kerri Walsh Jennings hoping for more than six in 2016
Lausanne, Switzerland, February 9, 2016 – As a three-time Olympic and world champion, Kerri Walsh is already considered beach volleyball royalty. But injury in 2015 saw her compete in just six events, and she has already said she is raring to go in 2016.
The 37-year-old is aiming for an unprecedented fourth Olympic gold medal – this time with London 2012 Olympic Games silver medallist April Ross – and believes that as a duo, they have the tools to beat anyone on the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour.
“Everything that we have, our whole kit and caboodle, we are the best team in the world,†Walsh Jennings revealed. “Now it’s just up to us to figure out how to dance together. Even when we’re not dancing well together, we’re still capable of winning a gold medal, but we can absolutely dominate once we get that rhythm.â€
Now fully firing after a fifth surgery to her right shoulder, ‘six feet of sunshine’ Walsh Jennings is looking for nothing but golds ahead of Rio. Here she is at her best during last year’s FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships.
