World Tour Countdown -2: Samoilovs/Smedins J. claim two victories

Lausanne, Switzerland, February 13, 2016 - There are two more days before the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Tour officially opens at the Kish Island Open. Two is also the number of World Tour titles Latvian pair Aleksandrs Samoilovs and Janis Smedins claimed in 2015.

Samoilovs/Smedins J. won back-to-back gold medals last year, with a victory at the Rio de Janeiro Open - which also served as a test event for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games – and a week later, another victory at the Sochi Open.

After these two title victories, the Latvian pair have earned a total 12 medals, including six gold medals.

Janis Smedins and Samoilovs have experience under their belts and their partnership has produced fruitful results since 2013. Their past performances keep their current partnership strong and they have certainly not lost their touch against the world’s top pairs. In the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championship The Netherlands 2015, Samoilovs gets in a great touch to end the rally - watch below.
