Myslowice organizers ready for top teams

The Myslowice crowds will welcome some of the world's top female teams when the fourth stage of the 2011 FIVB Beach Volleyball Swatch World Tour begins on Tuesday
Myslowice, Poland, May 13, 2011 – Organizers of the Myslowice Open in Poland next week say they are ready to welcome the elite of women’s beach volleyball as the fourth event of the 2011 FIVB Beach Volleyball Swatch World Tour gets ready to take place from May 17 to 22.

The tournament is the second single-gender event on this year’s circuit and the fourth overall for the women after stops in Brasilia, Sanya and Shanghai and organizers in Myslowice have praised the efforts of those working to make sure the tournament keeps up with the high standards expected on the World Tour.

“Although we didn’t have much time for preparing the event, everything is under control,” Paweł Gawęda, Promotion Director of FIVB Beach Volleyball SWATCH World Tour Mysłowice Open 2011 said. “I am sure that we’re going to make everything in time.”

“In many places this event won’t be possible,” Tournament Director Elżbieta ZajÄ…c added. “We are very lucky to have many people who devote their time to make this tournament well prepared. This event needs maximum effort and commitment, but we can manage with it. We are also supported by volounteers. There was really huge work to do, but due to our previous experiences we managed  to prepare everything.”

The competition has also been given a boost as it was announced that Polish Minister of Sport and Tourism Mr Adam Giersz  will be patron of the event.

Mr Giersz has been strongly devoted to sport for most of his life, coaching the Polish national table tennis team from 1984-1993 before going on to be named the Associations president. Now he uses his past experience to help improve sport across Poland.

Celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2011, the international beach volleyball circuit returns for the fourth consecutive season to Myslowice and the eighth straight year in Poland. The Myslowice Open, to be played at the Summer Sports Resort in the southwestern Polish community, will be the second time and first since 2008 that a women’s FIVB Swatch World Tour event will be held here. It will also be the seventh time in the last six years that the women will be playing in Poland. The second FIVB Swatch World Tour event in Poland for the fourth consecutive year will be the $600,000 Mazuri Orlen Grand Slam to be held from July 25 to 31 in Stare Jablonki. The Stare Jablonki event is the fifth of six double-gender Grand Slam events on the 2011 FIVB Swatch World Tour schedule.

While the women compete in Myslowice, the men will take part in the Prague Open in the Czech Republic from Tuesday to Sunday.
