Lausanne, Switzerland, April 15, 2011 – The FIVB Beach Volleyball Swatch World Tour Beijing Grand Slam has been officially confirmed by the FIVB and will take place from June 6-11 as the first Grand Slam event of the year.
Up until now Beijing was still to be confirmed, but the FIVB has now received the official agreement and the event will be one of six Grand Slams to take place this year, with the others following in Stavanger, Norway; Gstaad, Switzerland; Moscow, Russia; Stare Jablonki, Poland; and Klagenfurt, Austria.
The $USD300,000 tournament will welcome top men's and women's tandems from around the world, all of whom will be looking to clinch victory in the run-up to the FIVB Beach Volleyball Swatch World Championships in Rome, Italy, which will take place the week after the Beijing event from June 13-19.

This year's World Tour begins on Sunday with the double-gender Brasilia Open, which will run from April 17-23.
