Lausanne, Switzerland, February 8, 2011 – Myslowice, Poland will welcome back some of the top pairs in women's beach volleyball from May 17-22 when the city hosts the second of three female single-gender events in 2011.
It will be the first time since 2008 that the women have returned to Myslowice in southern Poland. In the last two years, another Polish venue, Mazury, was host of the Grand Slam event.
In 2008 the Brazilian sisters Maria Clara and Carolina Salgado came out on top in Myslowice, beating German tandem Katrin Holtwick and Ilka Semmler to first place, with Maria Antonelli and Talita Antunes completing the podium with a third-place finish.
Brazilian women have fared well in Poland in other years, winning events in Warsaw in 2007 and Stare Jablonki in 2008, 2009 and 2010. Only China has performed better, with a gold medal in Warsaw in 2006.
