Myslowice welcomes back FIVB Beach
Volleyball Swatch World Tour women |
|
After successfully hosting the FIVB
Beach Volleyball Swatch Junior and Youth World Championships
in 2006 and 2007, respectively, and staging a women's "open" event in 2008
and a men's "open" event in 2010, Myslowice
will once again welcome back the ladies for the first time in two years. Poland has hosted
women's World Tour events since 2006 with the first two taking place
in Warsaw. However this is only the second time the women have
travelled to Myslowice. Brazilians have traditionally dominated in
Poland with Juliana Felisberta Da Silva and Larissa França taking three gold medals in the last
four years. China is the only other country to be victorious, with
Jie Wang and Jia Tian taking top spot at the first tournament in 2006.
Located in the Upper Silesia
region of Poland, Myslowice was a crossroads in the era of the German,
Austro-Hungarian and Russian empires. Myslowice has a population of around
75,000, is home to various international companies and has excellent
international transport connections by road, rail and air.
Pictured below to the left are Brazilian sisters Maria Clara (left) and Carol
Salgado after winning the
Myslowice stage in 2008.
