PRESENTATION

Stare Jablonki welcomes back the FIVB Beach Volleyball Swatch World Tour

A small village in the Mazury region of Poland will again become the center of the beach volleyball world from July 25-31 as Stare Jablonki gears up to host the penultimate Grand Slam event of the year. Featuring men’s-only competition for the first four years, and then double gender tournaments in 2008 and 2009, Stare Jablonki moved up a step to hold Poland's first ever Grand Slam in 2009. The site of the youth (2006) and junior (2007) world championships, Myslowice also hosted a women’s Swatch stop in 2008. The 2010 Stare Jablonki gold medals were claimed by teams from Brazil as Juliana Felisberta Silva and Larissa Franca topped the women’s podium for the second year in a row as the men’s title was won by Todd Rogers and Phil Dalhausser. Brazilian tandems have won both women’s titles at the Hotel Anders and five of the previous seven men’s gold medals. Juliana and Larissa defeated Chen Xue and Li Zhang of China to claim top spot in the women's contest while compatriots Maria Antonelli and Talita Antunes clinched bronze. In the men's tournament Rogers and Dalhausser continued their onslaught by picking up their fourth Grand Slam title of the season. They overcame Germany's Julius Brink and Jonas Reckermann to take top spot on the podium as Brazil's Marcio Araujo and Ricardo Santos came in third. Below and left is the podium from the men's contest (from left to right) Reckermann, Marcio Araujo, Rogers, Ricardo, Dalhausser, Brink.
