PRESENTATION

Stavanger welcomes FIVB Beach Volleyball Swatch World Tour for 13th-straight season

For the 13th-straight season, Norway will host the FIVB Beach Volleyball Swatch World Tour in Stavanger as the planet's best Beach Volleyball players return to the Vaagen Harbour dockside courts from June 27-July 3.  The 2011 stop in the "oil" capital of Norway follows Stavanger's staging of the 2009 FIVB Beach Volleyball Swatch World Championships and a Grand Slam event in 2010.  Last year's event saw thousands of fans flock to the specially constructed court as they witnessed Brazil's Juliana Felisberta Da Silva and Larissa França defeat compatriots Maria Antonelli and Talita Antunes in the women's final, with USA's Misty May-Treanor and Nicole Branagh finishing third, and German outsiders David "Hase" Klemperer and Eric Koreng beat home duo Tarjei Skarlund and Martin Spinnangr while USA's Phil Dalhausser and Todd Rogers clinched bronze. It was a dream win for Klemperer and Koreng as they saw off eventual Tour champions Dalhausser and Rogers in the semifinals after previously beating the top pairs Penggen Wu and Linyin Xu of China and Harley Marques and Pedro Salgado of Brazil. With a population of over 121,000 Stavanger is the third largest city in Norway and sits on the western coast of the country on the North Sea. Below to the left are gold medal-winners David Klemperer (left) and Eric Kloreng.
