Stavanger Hosts 2010 SWATCH FIVB World Tour Grand Slam

For the 12th-straight season, Norway will host the SWATCH FIVB World Tour in Stavanger as the planet's best Beach Volleyball players return to the Vaagen Harbour dockside courts June 28-July 4.  The 2010 stop in the "oil" capital of Norway follows Stavanger's staging of the 2009 SWATCH FIVB World Championships presented by ConocoPhillips where 96 teams divided evenly among two genders competed for US$1-million in prize money.  The 11-day event set attendance records with over 120,000 fans as the television coverage was the best-ever outside of the Olympics with more than 80 hours of "live" transmission. Teams from the United States and Germans captured the men's and women's gold medals at the 2009 SWATCH FIVB World Championships by defeating pairs from Brazil in the finals.  Americans Jen Kessy and April Ross claimed the women's title with a 30-28 and 23-21 win in 58 minutes over Juliana Felisberta Silva and Larissa Franca.   Germans Julius Brink (left) and Jonas Reckermann (pictured below to the left) topped the men's podium with with a 21-16 and 21-19 win in 50 minutes over Alison Ceruitti and Harley Marques.
