Beach Volleyball a hit in Budva
Budva, Serbia and Montenegro, May 26, 2004 - The locals have been soaking up the action in Budva as the men of the Swatch FIVB World Tour battle it out on the golden sands of this picturesque town in Serbia and Montenegro.

Under a blazing sun and with the magnificent Montenegran mountains serving as the perfect backdrop, several highly skilled teams began the country qualifying and round one sections of the tournament on Wednesday.

First to do battle on the competition courts were teams from the home nation and the game that drew the most attention took place between the combinations of Semal Seceragic-Mehmet Memic and Sinisia Antonic-Milos Stanisavlecic. Seceragic-Memic made it through to the next stage, winning by 2-0,(24-22, 21-13) in 38 minues.

Those players not in action in the country qualifying round flocked to court five to watch the all Brazilian clash which featured Fred-Brazao and Cunha-Para. The latter outfit caused quite a surprise, triumphing in a mammoth match that lasted close to an hour. Cunha-Para were delerious with their 2-1 (21-18, 16-21, 15-11) success and were roundly applauded for their effort by their fellow players after the final point. There was even more good news to follow for Cuna-Para with the announcement that they would receive a bye into the next round.

In round one, there was disappointment for Kemal Seceragic and Mehmet Memic, another of the Serbia and Montenegro teams, as they sunk to a defeat at the hands of sprightly Greek duo Panagiotis Mourtzios and Georgios Knapek, 0-2 (21-10, 21-13).
