May-Walsh Win World Championships
Rio
de Janeiro, Brazil, Oct. 12, 2003 - America's Misty May
and Kerri Walsh left nobody in any doubt as to their
standing as the premier team in women's Beach on Sunday
morning when they defeated Brazil's Adriana Brandao
Behar and Shelda Kelly Bruno in the final of the Beach
Volleyball World Championships presented by SWATCH in
damp conditions on Copacabana.
The duo claimed their fifth title of the 2003 FIVB World
Tour with a 21-19, 21-19 victory over the defending
champions to close an outstanding season that has seen
them lose just four games. It was their fourth title in
succession on the World Tour and compliments their
remarkable form on the American domestic circuit during
which they went unbeaten on the way to winning eight
events.
