de Janeiro, Brazil, Oct. 19, 2003 - Brazil's Ricardo
Alex Costa Santos and Emanuel Rego crowned a magnificent
first full season together on Sunday when they defeated
Americans Dax Holdren and Stein Metzger 21-18, 21-15 in
the final of the Beach Volleyball World Championships
presented by SWATCH on a sun-drenched Copacabana. It was
the dominant pair's fifth victory of the season and
followed on the from the World Tour ranking title they
secured by reaching the quarter-finals earlier in the
week in what is the last FIVB event of the season.The
bronze medal went to their compatriots Benjamin Insfran
and Marcio Henrique Araujo after Portugal's Luis Miguel
Maia was unable to contest the playoff with his partner
Joao Carlos Brenha due to a hamstring injury.
