FIVB BEACH VOLLEYBALL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
MAZURY 2013 MEDIA GUIDE
KEIZER & VAN IERSEL
Together since: 2008 (58)
Dutch duo Sanne Keizer and Marleen van Iersel are slowly returning
to the form that made them the first European women’s team to win
consecutive FIVB tournaments when they won gold at the Shanghai
and Myslowice Opens in early 2011. So far in 2013 they finished in
ninth at the Fuzhou Open, Shanghai and Rome Grand Slams, the same
result they achieved at the London 2012 Olympic Games and fifth in
The Hague. Earlier in 2012 the pair showed that they enjoy playing in
China by winning bronze at the Beijing Grand Slam and by finishing
fourth at the Shanghai Grand Slam. They then won the European
Championships in front of their home fans at The Hague, the city in
which they are based, and silver at the Gstaad Grand Slam. Van Iersel
was voted the Tour’s most improved player in 2009 and best server
in 2010. Before she teamed up with Keizer in 2008 she won the U19
World Championships in 2008 and bronze in 2006 and 2007.
