FIVB BEACH VOLLEYBALL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
MAZURY 2013 MEDIA GUIDE
CICOLARI & MENEGATTI
Together since: 2009 (43)
Italian pair Greta Cicolari and Marta Menegatti are one of the most
improved teams on the FIVB World Tour in recent years, though
they are still seeking their first Tour gold medal. They ended 2012
with two silver medals and two bronze and their strong form was
a continuation of their impressive finish to 2011 when they won
the European Championships and the bronze medal in the season’s
final tournament in Phuket, Thailand. At the London 2012 Olympic
Games they reached the quarterfinals where they were knocked out
by eventual gold medallists Kerri Walsh and Misty May-Treanor of the
USA. In 2011 they won their first FIVB medal together as a pair when
they claimed silver at the Myslowice Open in Poland. Menegatti first
came to prominence at the 2007 U19 World Championships, where
she won silver alongside Gilda Lombardo, but it was only in 2009 that
she teamed up with Cicolari.
