COMPETITION
SCHEDULE
The Preliminary Phase will consist of 12 pools of four teams
each in a round robin format (each team will play every
other team in their pool) with the top two advancing to
the knockout final phase along with the eight best third-
placed teams.
The qualification process to the final phase (Round of 32)
is the following:
a) The top two teams from each pool advance to the final
phase – 24 teams qualify.
b) The eight best third-placed teams also advance to the
final phase – eight teams qualify.
The ranking between the eight third-placed teams is
determined by the highest number of match points,
followed by set ratio and then points ratio. If a tie remains,
a coin toss will decide.
Ranking in pools will be determined by match points (two
points to the winners, one to the losers). In the case of a tie
in the pools (match points) at the end of the round robin,
the following rules will apply:
Between two teams:
––
The winners of the head to head match is ranked higher.
Between three teams:
––
Teams are ranked by the rally points ratio in the matches
between the three tied teams.
––
If a tie still exists then the teams still tied are ranked by
the rally points ratio between all teams in the pool.
––
If a tie still exists then the teams still tied are ranked
by tournament seeding established at the first general
meeting (the highest seed of the tied teams is the top
ranked team).
