Together since: 2008 (37)
Igor Hernandez and Jesus Villafañe became the first Venezuelan team
to earn a place at the Olympic Games beach volleyball competition
when they and Venezuela’s second ranked team Jackson Henriquez
and Farid Mussa won the South American Confederation’s (CSV) leg
of the Continental Cup in 2012. Since then they have won two silver
medals on the South American Tour and competed at the Corrientes
and Rome Grand Slam. The pair have participated in FIVB events
since the start of the 2008 season when they reached the knockout
rounds of the Guaruja Open in Brazil. The 35-year-old Hernandez has
been on the World Tour since 2000 when he made his debut at the
Vitoria Open in Brazil alongside Franson Neris. Villafañe, 25, teamed
up with Rodolfo Serquera at the 2006 Junior World Championships
in Myslowice, Poland, but then had to wait two years until his World
Tour bow, when he lined up with Mussa at the 2008 Adelaide Open.
