FIVB BEACH VOLLEYBALL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
MAZURY 2013 MEDIA GUIDE
HERRERA & GAVIRA
Together since: 2009 (50)
Olympic silver medallist Pablo Herrera and Adrian Gavira, partners
since 2009, have only recently returned to the court after Herrera took
time off following the 2012 Olympic Games to recover from a knee
injury. This is their third FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships
together, after featuring in the 2009 and 2011 editions. Herrera also
played in 2003, 2005 and 2007 and won silver at the Athens 2004
Olympic Games with Javier Bosma. In 2012 Gavira and Herrera won
bronze at the Myslowice Open, their first podium finish in two years.
Their previous medal was a silver medal at the Polish venue, one of
two in 2010, along with the bronze in Rome. In 2009 they finished
with two silver medals, three bronze and a third-place finish at the
European Championships. Prior to their partnership, Herrera won gold
and silver at the U21 World Championships in 2002 and 2001, while
Gavira won U21 silver in 2007.
