MAZURY 2013 MEDIA GUIDE
FIJALEK & PRUDEL
Together: 2006 (1) // from 2008 (59)
Grzegorz Fijalek and Mariusz Prudel have already added to their
medal collections this year with bronze at The Hague Grand Slam.
They were the first Polish team to reach the semifinals of a World Tour
tournament at the Bahrain Open in 2008, the first to reach a World
Tour Grand Slam semifinal, at the Gstaad Grand Slam in 2010 and
the first Polish side to win a World Tour medal, with bronze at the
2010
French Open in Marseille. They made their Olympic debuts at
London 2012, where they reached the last eight, the same result they
achieved at their first World Championships at Rome 2011. Prior to
the Olympics they added another World Tour medal with bronze at the
Berlin Grand Slam and they sit proudly alongside the two silvers they
won at the Stavanger and Stare Jablonki Grand Slams in 2011. Fijalek
started winning medals early in his career, when he won bronze at the
2005
FIVB U19 World Championships, in tandem with Michal Matyja.
