FIVB BEACH VOLLEYBALL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
MAZURY 2013 MEDIA GUIDE
NUMMERDOR & SCHUIL
Together since: 2006 (79)
Dutch veterans Reinder Nummerdor and Richard Schuil retired
following the London 2012 Olympic Games but returned at their home
Grand Slam in The Hague this year and then a week later played in
the Rome Grand Slam. The duo first came together in 2006, 10 years
after Schuil won volleyball gold at the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games.
They have won seven World Tour events, the most recent being the
Beijing Grand Slam at the start of 2012. They have also played in
three FIVB Beach Volleyball World Championships, while London
was their second Olympic Games together and the second time
they reached the quarterfinals after Beijing 2008. Over the last five
years they have won three golds, one silver and one bronze from six
European Championships. In 2009 the 40-year-old Schuil was voted
Outstanding Player’ the same year that 36-year-old Nummerdor won
the ‘Best Defensive Player’ award.
