FIVB BEACH VOLLEYBALL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
MAZURY 2013 MEDIA GUIDE
PLAVINS & PEDA
Together since: 2013 (7)
Partners since early 2013, Martins Plavins and Janis Peda competed
in the first five tournaments of the FIVB 2013 season; the Fuzhou
Open and the Shanghai, Corrientes, The Hague and Rome Grand
Slams. Plavins won bronze with Janis Smedins at the 2012 Olympic
Games; one of only two sets of medals the Baltic nation won in
the British capital. They won their first FIVB Beach Volleyball World
Tour gold at the Stare Jablonki Grand Slam and then bronze at this
year’s World Cup Finals in Campinas, Brazil. At the Rome 2011 World
Championships they finished fourth and the 28-year-old Plavins also
played at the 2007 and 2009 editions. He first made his name when he
and Aleksandrs Samoilovs won the 2005 U21 World Championships
in Rio de Janeiro. The 28-year-old Peda only made his senior FIVB
debut this year in Fuzhou, 10 years after he finished fourth at the
2003
U21 World Championships in Saint Quay Portrieux, France.
