FIVB BEACH VOLLEYBALL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS
MAZURY 2013 MEDIA GUIDE
LILIANA & BAQUERIZO
Together since: 2007 (73)
Spain’s Liliana Fernández Steiner and Elsa Baquerizo McMillan have
truly begun to challenge the established names on the FIVB World
Tour. After becoming the first Spanish female team to reach the
Olympic Games in 2012 they won their first FIVB medals when they
finished second at the Aland Open. They’ve maintained their strong
finish to 2012 this year when they won silver at the Fuzhou Open and
then reached the quarterfinals of the Corrientes and The Hague Grand
Slams. This is their second World Championships after they reached
the knockout rounds at Rome 2011 and they made their World
Tour debuts in front of their home crowds at the 2008 Barcelona
Open. Prior to then they had finished fourth at the FIVB U21 World
Championships in Modena in 2007. Baquerizo McMillan was born
in New York, but together with the Alicante-born Fernández Steiner
trains in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
