Rome, Italy, June 17, 2011 – American beach volleyball legend Sinjin Smith has said the beauty of the 2011 FIVB Beach Volleyball Swatch World Championships powered by smart is that any team can win in his blog for the FIVB website.
Smith, who was one of the driving forces behind the sport in the 1980s and 1990s and helped it gain a place in the Olympic Games, pointed out Julius Brink and Jonas Reckermann’s success at the 2009 edition as evidence that almost any team can come from anywhere to pick up the coveted title.
He also said that despite Phil Dalhausser being injured, it may push him to perform beyond what he usually does in an effort to counterbalance his damaged ankle. Dalhausser and partner Todd Rogers are looking for a second World Championship after success at the 2007 edition in Gstaad, Switzerland.
