Termoli…………. hands of Molise

Termoli is a tourist center and a flourishing small town, in expansion, crossroads of the most important lines of communication of Molise ,preserves in its ancient village past treasures as the cathedral of the XII century and the swabian castle, as a token of a historical world of big prestige. Termoli had a considerable importance during Norman age and touched the highest splendour under the swabian rule when its port and its fortifications became substantial and solid. Termoli was a little fishing village, which began to expand after the last military conflict. Its expansion spread outside the old walls of the ancient village, a very suggestive terrace on the sea going back to the V century, with little lines, which result in a multitude of little squares. Since 1970, thanks to industrial development Termoli has been acquiring the aspect of a modern small town, with new buildings and larceny green areas.

Termoli…a city to love

Termoli is a seaside resort with very clear waters, accommodations and services of excellent quality, thanks to them in the last years it has always had the desiderated recognition of the Blue Europe Flags. The tourist, who chooses Termoli can enjoy of a wonderful natural setting, in fact the town has two big beaches of sand. The “beach of St. Anthony” (north side) placed close to the civic center that is the ideal for the tourist that loves tradition. On its right you can admire, imposing, the famous song “Una rotonda sul mare”. The beach of “Rio Vivo” (side south) is a big expanse of sand, which remembers a bit the Californian beaches.

Pieces of history………

The ancient village of Termoli is a little casket of valuable monuments and history, which in different centuries overlapped, and nowadays they tell us about the Norman age, the Lombard age, the swabian age, under which the small town knew the biggest magnificence. The most important monuments are : the cathedral consecrated to the virgin going back to the XII century built on the remains of an old temple, whose have been found the structures The fašade and the floor mosaics  are of special beauty. In the cathedral there are the rests of two patron saints of the town: St. Basso and St. Timoteo Another important national monument is the castle, model of Norman man who rests on a truncated quadrangular pyramid with cylindrical towers at the four corners. But the tourist is amazed to see the village with lanes its little square and its ability to recall the past sailor life
