The Canadian waterfront city of Halifax became the first city to
host back-to-back FIVB Beach Volleyball SWATCH Junior World Championships
in 2012 after successfully welcoming the annual event last year.
The six-day tournament took place from August 29 to September 2 and featured a Main Draw of 32 teams for the first time as the competition for players under 21 continued to grow in both size and stature. An enthusiastic crowd descended on the capital of Nova Scotia province to take in the action.
On that occasion it was Poland's Piotr Kantor and Bartosz Losiak, 2011 silver medallists, who came out on top after they beat Switzerland’s Mirco Gerson and Gabriel Kissling in the final. With the tournament’s final four teams all from different European countries, it was Germany’s Dominik Stork/Fabian Schmidt who captured the bronze medal.
