Dominican Republic, April 19, 2011 – Canada and the United States
advanced to the semifinals of the NORCECA Central Zone Phase of the
Women’s Continental Cup following victories over Mexico and Dominican
Republic respectively on Monday.

Canada will now face Puerto Rico while USA advanced to a battle against Cuba on Tuesday.

Lessard of Canada-A had to battle for a 21-16, 16-21, 15-10 victory
over Martha Revuelta/Diana Estrada of Mexico-B and then prevailed 20-22,
21-19, 20-18 in a sensational match against Bibi Candelas and Mayra
Garcia of Mexico-A.
Candelas/Garcia had defeated
Heather Bansley/Liz Maloney of Canada-B 21-15, 21-18 while
Bansley/Maloney beat Revuelta/Estrada 21-18, 21-12.
Americans Whitney Pavlik and
Jenny Kropp of USA-B downed Gina and Ginette Del Rosario of Dominican
Republic-A 21-15, 22-20 and won 21-15, 21-16 against Yudelka
Bonilla/Isis Silverio of Dominican Republic-B.
Ashley Ivy and Lisa Rutledge of USA-A defeated Bonilla/Silverio 21-19, 21-17 and won 21-16, 21-15 over Del Rosario
