NORCECA Beach Volleyball Continental Cup

Competition Format
The Continental Cup is composed by the following 3 phases: 
- Sub-zonal Phase
in 2010:
  • Two tournaments in ECVA (October) and CAZOVA (November) with eight countries each
  • 2 teams per gender per country
  • The best four ranked countries of each sub-zonal tournament will qualify for the Continental Phase
  • Country v country format (best of five) with a double elimination bracket
  • Seeding: by NORCECA Beach Volleyball Ranking, the country teams without ranking will go into a draw

in 2011:

  • Two additional sub-zonal events, one in AFECAVOL (January) with seven countries and the other in the Central Zone (April) with six countries
  • The best four ranked countries qualify for the Continental Phase
  • Country vs. country format, with a winner and loser bracket (or double elimination)
  • Double gender events
- Zonal Phase in 2011
  • One tournament per gender with eight countries each from CAZOVA (4) and ECVA (4)
  • One tournament with eight countries each (each participating country entering two teams per gender) from AFECAVOL (4) and the Central Zone (4)
  • The best four countries per tournament qualify for the Final Continental Phase
  • The host country must qualify through the previous phase. The organizing country will also be allowed to participate.
  • Two teams per country per gender
  • Country vs. country format with a double bracket
  • Criteria: by NORCECA countries ranking (as of August 15, 2010)
  • Seeding: the top four teams on NORCECA Beach Volleyball Ranking, the remaining country teams by draw
- Continental Cup Final in 2012
  • One tournament per gender with eight countries each
  • Both tournaments will be held at the latest on June 24, 2012
  • The host country must qualify through the previous phase. The organizing country will also be allowed to participate.
  • Two teams per country per gender
  • Country vs. country format with a double elimination bracket
  • Seeding: by zonal phase ranking
  • The country winner of each tournament not yet qualified to the London 2012 Olympic Games, will qualify directly.
  • The two next best ranked countries not yet qualified for the Olympic Games, qualify for the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Cup Olympic Qualification event.
  • The highest ranked country (from the participating countries) of the Continental Beach Volleyball Cup, will qualify for the FIVB Beach Volleyball World Cup Final.
