
Venezuela's men achieved another four wins in the CSV Beach Volley Continental Cup |
Santiago – Chile, November 26, 2011 - Venezuela's men's team built on their good start on the second day of CSV Beach Volleyball Continental Cup as they achieved another four wins over Ecuador, Brazil and Uruguay to remain on top of the standings while hosts Chile also picked up three wins.
The competition held at the Civic Center of Maipu in Santiago, Chile, welcomed over 1,500 locals fans on the second day of the contest.
Igor Hernández and Farid Mussa of Venezuela saw off Ecuadorian brothers Daniel Javier Maldonado 2-0 (21-8, 21-11) and then beat Brazil's Ricardo Brandao and Julio Cesar (21-13, 17-21, 15-13).
Jackson Henriquez and Jesus Villafane then had little trouble seeing off Ecuador's Bardales and Javier Lecaro (21-12, 21-16) and Uruguay's and Renzo Cairus Federico Corbo also in two sets (21-17, 21-14) in the last game of the da.
Meanwhile, Chilean cousins Marco and Esteban Grimalt needed three sets to beat Brazil's Ricardo Brandao/Julio Cesar (19-21, 21-18, 15-13) and Harley/Evandro (21-19, 17-20, 15-10 ).
Yussef Mansur and Guillermo Gimenez, after falling to Renzo Cairus and Federico Corbo of Uruguay (21-15, 19-21, 9-15), managed to recover to beat the Maldonado brothers of Ecuador 2-1 (23-21, 18-21, 15-9).
Uruguayans and Nicolas Guillermo Williman Zanota then achieved the first pf two tournament victories by defeating Evander first Harley and Brazil (17-21, 21-17, 15-10) and then Julio Bardales and Javier Lecaro of Ecuador in straight sets (21-12, 21-11).
Ecuador ended the second day of competition without a single victory and increasingly further away from qualification to the final stage of the CSV Beach Volleyball Continental Cup.
